Exporting saved passwords from Google and importing to LastPass
Disable password saving in Chrome
To prevent Chrome from saving passwords, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser.
Go to Passwords and autofill and click on Google Password Manager
Under Settings make sure Offer to save passwords and Sign in automatically are disabled.
This should prevent Chrome from saving any future logins.
Export saved passwords from Google
To export any passwords already save in Chrome go to passwords.google.com and click on the gear icon for settings.
Click on Export to download a CSV file with your saved passwords.
You will be asked to confirm your password before the download starts. Note that the CSV downloaded is not a secure file. Once you have completed the import to LastPass you should delete this file.
Import passwords into LastPass
To import your passwords into LastPass, click on the LastPass extension icon in the top right corner of your browser and click on the Vault button. Or go directly to https://lastpass.com/vault/vault.html
In the bottom left corner click on Advanced Options
Then click on Import
In the first import step, choose Chrome as the source.
On the following page, upload the CSV file you downloaded earlier.
On the third step you can review the passwords detected in the CSV file and make sure they're accurate. If a field such as the Username or URL are missing in the original CSV it may not detect it correctly, so it is important to verify before finishing the import.
If any are not showing correctly, uncheck the box next to the incorrect entries. If there are any that it won't import properly you may need to enter them manually. If there are a large number of errors, you can edit the CSV manually to try and correct them. If this is necessary and you require help editing the CSV, you may submit a service ticket to get assistance.
Once you have verified the passwords to be imported, you may click Import all in the top right corner of the screen. If you have deselected any entries it will read Import selected.
After importing you should see the following message.
You can review the security of your imported passwords, or continue to the next step.
Cleaning up after importing
After successfully importing your passwords to LastPass, permanently delete the CSV file you downloaded from Google.
To remove your saved passwords from Google, click on the three dots in the top right corner of the Chrome browser and click on Settings.
Go to Privacy and security and click on Clear browsing data.
Go to the Advanced tab and make sure Passwords and other sign-in data is checked, then click Clear data.
To verify all your passwords have been removed go to passwords.google.com and check for any remaining stored passwords
If any sites or apps still show as saved, manually delete them.
Once all saved passwords have been removed from Google you will be all set to use LastPass as your main password manager.
